We have gone through a lot as a country this past year - 2020. Many have commented that they can’t wait for the new year to come! The pandemic has had a dramatic impact on many people’s lives, though the overwhelming majority who have had it recover. Peaceful protesting, rioting and looting have almost become a normal part of our every day lives. On top of it all, we have faced a presidential election that has been polarizing at best. People are weary.
But as believers, this is our absolute hope and confidence - “#God’sGotThis!” God has absolute control over all world events, world governments and the course of history as it plays out. He has never made a mistake and is using all of this for His divine purpose. So where do we go from here?
We stand firm in our commitment to Jesus Christ.
This week’s message called, “Unwavering Faith” is a call to confidently believe with wholehearted devotion. Pastor Todd will briefly look at Joshua 24:1-15, where Joshua called the people to rededicate their lives to the Lord as they begin to live in the promised land. Many of you are familiar with Joshua’s challenge to the people in Joshua 24:14-15, especially the last part.
"14Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
It’s time for believers to rise up, stand firm and exhibit confident faith in the Lord. With all we have gone through as a country, it’s also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to Christ as individuals and families, and as a church family, to strongly declare,
“As for ME and MY HOUSE, (and GOD’S HOUSE), we will serve the Lord!”
