The Transcendence of God

07/04/2020 - By Pastor Todd Nathan

Last Sunday kicked off the Summer Sermon series - #RealTalkAboutGod with a message on "The Holiness of God.". Holiness is defined as "the separate One, beyond or above the world, true light, spotless purity, the perfect One". We looked at the following Scriptures covered on God's holiness -Exodus 15:11, Leviticus 11:44-45, 1 Samuel 2:2, Isaiah 6:1-5, 42:8, 48:11, and Revelation 4:8. God is serious about His holiness and will deal with those who profane His name as evidenced by Numbers 20 (Moses lost the right to enter the promised land), Isaiah 6 (Isaiah was on his face before the Lord deeply convicted over his sin and the sins of his people, and Ezekiel 36:23, 38:23 and 39:7 (God declares that he will vindicate His holy name and deal with those who have profaned it).

This week we will take a closer look at "The Transcendence of God" - "to exist above and independent from everything else in creation; to rise above, surpass, succeed." Pantheism, panentheism, buddhism and hinduism are all contemporary worldview that counter the idea that God is separate from His creation, far above and independent. And yet Scripture declares clearly who God is in His transcendence. Take some time to read Psalm 57:5, 97:9, 113:4-6, Deuteronomy 4:39, 2 Chronicles 2:6, Acts 17:24-25, Isaiah 55:8-9 and Romans 11:33-36. Then click here to view Sunday's service and message.
