Whatever happened to the "Sabbath"? Do people still consider Sunday a holy day, and a "day of rest"?
There was a time in our country where businesses were closed on Sundays (Blue Laws), where there were no sports or activities, where people took the day to catch up on life, rest, and prepare for a new work week. But now, every day there is something happening.
Church has become just another "activity" on a person’s list of things to do. Few believers actually take the time to just rest, and enjoy resting. To have a "down day" intentionally focused on the Lord. Of course, with the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the big question is,
"Is the Sabbath still valid for believers today, or does it look differently than in the OT, because of what Jesus has done for us?"
Take some time to read Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8-11 and Hebrews 4:8-13 and consider where your own life is in regard to "honoring the Sabbath".
