Preparing for this week's message on "Finding Rest in Jesus"

01/30/2020 - By Pastor Todd Nathan

The very heart of Jesus’ earthly ministry was to bring the gospel of hope to people. He came in fulfillment of Isaiah 61:1-2 (Luke 4:16-21) as a compassionate servant reaching the poor, needy, marginalized and broken, rather than as the messiah the Jews were anticipating - one who was a political and military leader who would set them free from Roman oppression! Jesus called those who were “poor in spirit” and those who “mourn" and grieve over their sin blessed. He called out to the weak and heavy laden inviting them to come to Him (Matthew 11:28-30) so that they might find true rest.

Where do you find rest when you are heavily burdened by life’s demands or when you are weighed down emotionally feeling like at any moment you could crack? Where do you go? Who do you go to? Take some time to read Matthew 11:1-30, Isaiah 61:1-2, Isaiah 35:5-6 and Luke 4:16-21, pray, mediate and prepare your heart for worship as we dig deeper into the Word of God.
